The festivals of lights- Diwali -was last month.We have all enjoyed ourselves

Many of us waited every night for the 5 days of Diwali just to burst crackers.

Its great fun the sparkles bombs and rockets.Something to know about sound

Sound is all around us-louder during the day and softer at night.Each sound is different

Do you know how sound is produced?Sound is produced whenever an

object is made to vibrate or move rapidly backwards and forwards.A

simple way to feel vibration is to hold a balloon that touches the front of a spesker

when music is playing.Try it-  did you feel the balloon vibrate?Most

vibrations are too quick to see.As you grow and come to higher classes you will

learn more about sound.

The loudness of a sound is measured in decibels -db- look at the picture

below and see how loud a sound somethings you see almost daily make-

How can we help –

1.  Speak softly dont scream.

2.  Enjoy music but not so loud so that others get disturbed.

3.  Use the horn only if you have to-learn to be a little patient.This is for

your dad/mum or your driver.

4.  Dont bang doors and windows.You know by doing so you may only

damage them.Learn to gently close them -it dosent take time-try.

We all know that we hear with our ears.We enjoy soft and musical

sounds.Very loud sound are painful and disturbing,and loud sounds can

lead to permanent ear damage sometimes deafness.Have a look at the

picture below this is how your ear is outside and inside.You’ll learn about

it as you grow up.

Well lets all try each one in their own little way to control sound pollution.

Lets start with”Talk softly dont scream”. Enjoy music and also watch

our favourite programme on the tv ….but remember not very loud.It’s

not far to disturb others.Have you ever tried to sit out in a park at home

or near the sea and just close your eyes and quietly listen.You’ll be

surprised at all the different sounds you can hear,try and identify them

it can be fun.You’ll get a nice feeling try.

 


 

 

 

HOW TO MAKE AN ANGEL(FAIRY) WITH A PAPER PLATE

You need:-1.   a paper plate

2.   a stapler and stapler pins

3.   paste and glitter

4.   crayons and water colours(bright shades,silver\gold)

5.   a punch and ribbon.

Method:-1.  Cut the paper plate as shown.Colour or paint the dress,draw the eyes

mouth and hair.Use glitter if you like on the dress.Now make a cone and

staple at the back.The body is ready .See the picture

2.  Now take the second part of the plate and cut it in the shape of

wings.Paint or colour it (use glitter or decorate the wings as you like.)

Staple the wings.(see the picture)

MAKE YOUR OWN TELEPHONE

We learnt about sound.Now lets have fun and make our own telephone

using 2 paper cups and a piece of thread.It actually works.Next time your

friends come over  colour the cups and make the phone.Just follow the

instructions below:

RANGOLI

The Festivals of Lights-Diwali was in the beginning of this month(november)

You all must have done a lot of craft and art related to diwali in school-

You must have made cards ,diyas, torans. lanterns and many more things.

Mum must have made rangoli at home.Heres a little about rangoli-

Rangoli is an ancient traditional Indian art form.It is a brightly coloured

design on the floor created using different materials such as coloured

powders,seeds and grains flower petals and paints.Rangoli symbolises a

warm welcome and good luck.Rangoli designs have simple geometrical patterns

to highly intricate images.

Simple steps to make a rangoli-Make dots equidistance and then the

pattern(see picture below)

HOW TO MAKE AN AQUARIUM WITH PAPER

Things needed:  1.  Blue paint in a bowl.

2. A spoon of shampoo and a straw to blow.

3.  A4 size paper- you can use old chart paper/news paper.

4.  Fish cut out

5. Glue.

 

Method:     1. Put the paint in the bowl with a little water and shampoo

and blow gently into the solution ( see picture)

2. Take the paper ,hold it with both hands above the bubbles formed ,as

you blow.Move the paper up,down and sideways,making sure the

bubbles touch all sides of the paper. You will have a water effect on

the paper.You can use other colours(See the picture below)

3. Now take the cut outs of the fish and colour them.

Then stick the fish on the paper with the bubbles.Your aquarium

is ready.You can draw sea weed with green paint.(  See the picture below)
