Honesty

Hi, I wonder how many of you spread a smile today. I did…I made some children smile, a worried vendor smile and that made me happy.  (Read my post here about a way to make others happy. )

Today I am going to write about HONESTY…Here is a small story about a little boy who wanted candy and asked his mother. She said no as he had not drunk his milk. The boy was angry and sad. He went outside. As he opened the front door, he saw something shining on the floor. He got curious and bent down to see what it was. He was surprised to see it was a five Rupee coin. He picked it up and thought “Well I can use this to buy a candy for myself.”

But he thought for a while and decided to give the coin to his mum as it did not belong to him. When he gave the coin to mum telling her how he found it, his mum was very happy because he had been honest. She gave him a hug and not one but two candies for his honesty.

The boy got not just two candies but a great feeling that he done the right thing. Remember you must not take something that is not yours.

I have an idea all these little values that we talk about we will call ‘MY PEARLS OF WISDOM…..

So far we have three pearls – Be Happy, Care and Share, Be Honest.

Making a Car Hanger

Today we will make a little doll for your papa’s car

You need:

1)    Paper (old greeting cards or thick brown paper bags – Remember lets reuse waste material)

2)    Crayons or Paints

3)    Glue

4)    String

Method:

1)    Cut a round circle the size of a side plate and cut a face with hands (see picture)

2)    Colour the circle. You can make designs (ask mum to help you)

3)    Draw the face

4)    Cut thin strips of paper and colour them black

5)    Stick the black paper above the face as hair (see picture)

6)    Now fold the circle to half then to a quarter and stick one side together leaving the  round side open. Now use your finger to open that side and it becomes a cone (see picture below)

7)    Cut the top of the cone and stick the face and hands there

8)    Fold a ribbon and stick it behind the face. Make sure it sticks well

Now go ahead and give this to your parents. They can hang it anywhere they like, even in their car.

Making Flowers

Here’s something for you to create – flowers that make the world so colourful and bright

flower final

You need:

1)    Thick paper or cardboard (you could use a box of cornflakes or toothpaste.) Avoid buying new paper as it is a waste

2)    Ice cream sticks

3)    Colours (crayons, water colours or colour pencils)

4)    Glue

Method:

1)    Cut the paper into different flower shapes

2)    Take the back portion of cardboard (the one which is empty) and colour the flowers bright shades – any bright colour you like!

3)    Paste the flowers on both sides (front and back) of one end of the ice cream stick

4)    For the leaves again we cut the paper and colour them green

5)    Stick the leaves on the ice cream stick slightly below the flower

Make as many flowers as you like and give them to your parents and friends. Watch them smile Smile

Bye then till the next time.
