Care for Yourself this Monsoon.—You are Important

This is the time of the year we all wait for eagerly. The rains are a big relief after a hot and sometimes dry summer.Monsoon is an important part of our lives ….Remember …Water is Life….We all depend on the rains for our daily water supply , the plants need water to grow and the rain is important for cooling and cleaning of the earth.

Rains are fun time as well

We all know how we get rain .Its magical and the cycle of life.

On a rainy day stand with your eyes closed and listen to all the sounds you can hear

The pitter patter of the rain drops ,the sound of thunder and the splash of water. The sounds of the opening umbrella and the laughter of the children.

Remember —  “Water is a Precious Gift from God.Save every drop.

Today i am  not just going to tell you how important water is and how to save water. We will talk about something as important and that is You.

Rains are important but along with it comes things that make us anxious.Everything stays  damp and wet and often fungus tends to grow on food and our clothing. There is a smell of dampness and we begin to wait for sunny days.Sometimes the walls and ceiling of our homes begin to get wet and leak. When the rain water fills. up holes and water stagnats  the risk of diseases increases. We can be prone to colds,  fever, malaria and water borne diseases like typhoid.our digestive system becomes a little weak and we can get stomach upsets.

Children we can enjoy the rains but we need to be careful and take care of ourselves. Remember you are important.

Here are some dos and don’ts to follow during the monsoon:-

Always carry an umbrella or raincoat. When you are not using it  fold and keep them away .Make sure the umbrella or raincoat is dry  or else they will begin to smell.

If you get wet, dry yourself once you return home .

Change into dry clothes.Wash your hands and feet before touching anything.

Drink something hot and eat only home made hot food .Avoid outside food this will keep stomach upsets away.

When in school carry a set of dry clothes and a napkin.

You can have fun and splash in puddles sometimes but remember to move wet shoes and socks.

Take care not to splash on someone. When in a car ask the driver to go slow when there is a puddle –you need to care for others.

Keep your home free from mosquitoes —

Don’t take out food from a box with wet hands.

You can enjoy the rains—Go for trek with your friends.

Go to the beach and watch the tides but keep safe distance.

You can plan a monsoon party with the help of your mum and invite your friends…plan some interesting craft work, sing songs and watch a short kids can also enjoy cooking mabe bake a cake or biscuits with the help of mum.

Enjoy the rain kids but keep safe.

Enjoy the monsoon but remember you are important take care of yourself during the rains.

Diwali— The Festival of Lights

Diwali is one of our biggest festivals which is celebrated in all parts of India. Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile.

 Rangoli and Diya

All the houses are decorated with lights and flowers..Rangoli is made with colours and flowers, inside and outside the houses. We wear new clothes and pray to Goddess Lakshmi.Mummy cooks yummy Indian food and we celebrate with family and friends.

Fun Time :-

Diwali time is fun time .We get Diwali holidays…but before that we have a Diwali party in school and do lots of art and craft as well. We decorate our classes ,sometimes do a little cooking and invite our teachers to our class. Mum and Dad take us for shopping….we buy new clothes and presents for our relations. Diwali is a family festival so many a time uncles ,aunties.and cousins all celebrate together —–its a yearly family get together.

Our pearls of wisdom :-

. When we enjoy we must also be considerate towards others…..

. Be responsible–clear the mess after the party and help to put away things

. Respect and love all religions and people. We should make sure we don’t make too much noise and disturb others. We should appreciate and take care of any decorations others have made. We should pay our respects to all elders around us and seek their blessings.

. Care and share with the less fortunate. We can give our old toys, books, stationary and clothes to those who work for us…. but remember these things must be in good condition or else we would be insulting them.Another way is to visit an orphanage and enjoy Diwali with those children. With mum’s help and prior permission we can plan an outing with them along with our friends.

First of all we must enjoy the festival…..and then also remember  to keep the environment clean and pollution free.—–Yes it’s no to crackers….but when you are small you can play with a sparkler or two. This way your curiosity will be over and you will understand what pollution does to us.

Enjoy eating the yummies mum makes…..

. Wash your hands before eating.

. Sit in one place and eat. Bite your food , eat slowly and close your mouth and chew.

. Take only how much you can eat…you can always take a second helping. Its not good to waste food. You are the lucky one who can choose and eat what you like many children don’t know when they  will get their next meal.

. Wait for your turn and learn to share.

. Wash your hands and mouth after you finish.

. Always help to clean up.

Spend time with your grandparents and ask them to tell you about Diwali celebrations when they were young–you will understand how strong our Indian traditions are.

Save water

WATER :    Can you imagine a world without water.

What do we need water for :- Bathing , washing ,cooking, drinking…….Water is our life.

cleaning    washing water  brush                  water plant

shave            car wash   drink h2o

We have all learnt about the water cycle :-

h2o cycle

Like we take so many things for granted we never think about water. We use it and enjoy. Not even for a minute do we stop and think what would we do if one morning we get up and our taps are dry.

Today let us think of ways we can save water or rather use water carefully :drinku

Here is how you can make a checklist for saving water :-

Water is a precious gift from God .

Let us save every drop.

Be grateful first and pray for a good rainy season next year.

Earth Day

The Earth Day is round the corner……Yes it is celebrated on the 22nd of April every year.On that day every one will be talking about saving our planet  -Earth-. There will be workshops where we will all join hands and promise to take care of our planet. That is really nice  , but the only problem I see is that as the days and months go by we slowly forget and begin to take things for granted ….. the air around us , water the trees and every thing else. The good thing is that there are people who keep reminding us. A big thank you to them. I am just going to put up some pictures from the net. Children lets all try in our own little way to make our world beautiful. So cheers to that.

Christmas—-Love and respect all religions

The month is December and its the end of  2015. There is general excitement and joy all around. I would attribute it to the annual festival of Christmas , the annual concert or funfair in all schools with the much awaited Christmas holidays and finally the big New Year celebrations.

Christmas as we know is the birth of Jesus Christ. Look at the picture below:

When we talk of Christmas what do we think of ?

Joy and happiness and peace to the world.

Yes we do think of  Christmas party and Santa with the gifts .The many Christmas decorations  shops are full of. Well lets see what some of the Christmas symbols stand for.—-

Evergreen Christmas Tree :-   The fir tree stays green through out the year and reminds us of everlasting hope and eternal life.It points up to heaven to remind us that God is there looking and taking care of us.

The Christmas Wreath:-    It symbolises  never ending love . Wreaths are ever green and in a circle.- no beginning no end. Love is always there to stay.

Santa Claus :- Yes he is the most favourite figure of Christmas  .Dressed in red with black boots and a white beard carrying a bag full of toys and goodies. He is believed to come from the north pole in his sledge pulled by reindeer. His favourite one being Rudolph. Santa is kind and showers kids with gifts. He symbolizes generosity and kindness.
